The Korean Home Economics Education Association (KHEEA) has published a professional journal since 1989. Originally called the Journal of the Korean Home Economics Education Association, it is now the Journal of Home Economics Education Research (JHEER). This recent name change reflects the association’s vision of accommodating home economics education-related research from a broader and more global, international context. JHEER is thus positioned as a venue for global collaboration and interchange to gain deeper insights into home economics education. 

Education is one of several viable career paths for communicating home economics with other venues including government and public service, business and industry, media, nongovernment and nonprofit organizations, and human services. Home economics education involves teaching home economics to non-home economists including school children, college and university students, and adults within the general public. This education helps people learn about home economics and the powerful role it can play in their lives. Through home economics education, people can gain knowledge, clarify values, and take inspired action.

The JHEER publishes original, innovative, and interdisciplinary articles that cover diverse issues in home economics education. The journal’s target readers include educators, researchers, administrators, and policy specialists who are involved in home economics education in diverse academic and community settings. The journal welcomes manuscripts that present research (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods), theoretical and conceptual statements, philosophical arguments, program evaluations, curriculum development and assessments, reviews, and case studies with clearly articulated implications for research, policymaking, and/or educational practice.

Respecting the intended audience of the journal (educators, researchers, administrators, and policy specialists), contributors are invited to submit articles related to the following topics or related ideas: 

 

The JHEER welcomes contributions from both KHEEA members and nonmembers in home economics education and related disciplines.

Please use the 7th edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) (2020) manual. Manuscripts should use A4 paper, be in Microsoft Word (.docx) or the Korean Hangul Word Processor (.hwp) format, use font size 11 and Times New Roman and be double spaced and no longer than 8000 words including references, tables, and figures. If prudent, manuscripts should undergo English language editing before submission. Authors should respect the generic Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines for ethics (see https://publicationethics.org/) and complete the JHEER’s Research Ethics Compliance Form.
